As we continue to look at why we stumble in our walk of faith; we need to realise that time is of great importance. How much time we spend failing the same test is influenced by whether we actually understand the reason for the test in the first place. The sooner we understand the purpose of the process; the more we appreciate that we cannnot waste time battling the same circumstances repeatedly. Even water that is stagnant eventually develops some sort of algae, which looks scummy, often smells bad and becomes toxic to human beings. This is what eventually happens to a spiritual life that remains stagnant or any area of life that you stay in for too long.
Our understanding of purpose helps us to understand whether the people we are carrying are necessary to take with on the journey; or whether what we endure because of what we are holding onto is necessary or in vain. Without knowing our purpose; we fail to understand or realise the process that we are going through is to equip us for the blessing. We hold on to what is not prepared by God or what is not from God for too long that it begins to cause blisters in some areas of our lives while it drains our strength and wearies us down.
Ephesians 5:15-17 “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16. redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
We therefore need to walk cautiously, carefully or be mindful of what is necessary and what is not; to ensure that the time taken in every step of the process is redeemed fully; not wasting time repeating the same mistake, failing over and over again because of excess baggage. However, this can only be accomplished by knowing the will of God; and allowing His will to be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. When we excercise the free will given to us to allow His will over ours; we will not find ourselves holding onto things that are not necessary for His will for us on Earth. Being able to let go of the excess baggage helps to let God perform His will on Earth as it is in Heaven in a timely manner.
