Life’s journey is a journey of building in everything we do. As grow up, we are being built into something by our family, peers and society at large. At some point we are then released into the world to either use what we have been built into for the good of other or for the destruction of others.
But on this journey, we encounter people to add to our building or to our destruction and the choice is left with each individual to either be built by the encounters or be torn down and destroyed. Equally on the same journey we also have the choice to either be a builder or a destroyer of our families, peers, society and ourselves.
Nehemiah 4:3 “Now Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and he said, “Whatever they build, if even a fox goes up on it, he will break down their stone wall.”
This scripture in saying “whatever THEY” build” shows us here that in the process of building, there are those who are with us because they are building with us. No person can build anything alone; but we all need someone beside us to help us build; who the Bible refers to as our neighbour. But the scripture also mentions that Tobiah was beside someone; his neighbour; to destroy or to curse the works of those who are building.
Therefore in lifes journey, let it nor be a suprise that as we build, or are built into something; there are those who stand with us to build and those who stand together to destroy what we are trying to build. Each person has choice to be with the builders or to be with those who destroy. But i urge those who stand to build; do not allow those who seek the destruction of what you build discourage you from building.
A builder is a person of vision; a person who has seen that something needs to be built; a person who has a plan to see something accomplished; a person who has seen a need and desires to fill that gap. And the Bible says:
“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him” – Luke 14:28-29
The one who seeks to destroy has none of these qualities and all they want to achieve is “mock”. Though the builder may have laid a foundation a failed; the destroy remains with nothing concrete but the “mock”. So deny those who seek to mock the pleasure the hope to accomplish by simply continuing to build.
Do not stop building; while they envision temporary joy; you eventually have the undeniable pleasure of seeing the fruit of your building.
