Blessed Morning Beloved of the Lord.
As we continue this journey to break away from the darkness that has held our minds captive for years; we need to understand that it is not for the people around us to understand. No matter how much you can try to make them understand, it will be hard becauae Jesus is not going to ask them for permission to let you come to Him. The reason many people say salvation is personal, is because it requires only your decisions and willingness to stand firm in them. Just the same way your decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour cannot be forced on you; so is following Him and believing His promises. Unlike satan and his wicked strategies; Jesus allows you the free will to choose Him over the things of this world. He allows you the free will to choose between doing good or evil each day of your life. All He does is shows you the Way, and teaches you the Truth so the you can live your Life in His light.
But the devil will not give you up so easily; and because he knows from childhood your mind has been set to trust in man and the things of man that you see everday; he is going to use man to try and discourage you, shame you, humiliate you, put fear and doubt in you as well. This is exactly what He tried to do to Jesus who came here for your sake. He tried to make Him disobey His Father in Heaven; and who did satan use in all this; he used man. Satan is a spirit, and to survive on the earth, he corrupts the image that reminds him of God; just because he is jealous of God and because he knows he cannot do anything to God; he seeks to destroy what God loves the most.
Therefore, he causes man to draw us back from the light, to discourage us from finding out the truth, to make us believe that we are not forgiven and to constantly remind us of the mistakes that we made so that we live our lives in the past. He uses the people we value most in our lives; parents, siblings, friends, work colleagues, relatives and at times even total strangers to make us feel like the path we have chosen is worthless. He will use people to post things on facebook, on social media, on any form of informative channel so that he keeps our mind doubting the choice we have made. These things satan uses because he knows we are struggling between letting go of the fleshly nature, the sinful lusts and the knowledge or culture which has been rooted deep in our minds since our childhood.
All these result from the people we surrounded ourselves with; the society we grew up in; the information that we acquired through readings, tv and school, knowing that many of us grow up not making time to read and understand the Word of God. This is why the Bible says;
“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6
The scripture is both a warning and a guidance. Warning us to be careful how we train up our children, and also a guide to train up a child in the Way of the Lord. Because what we feed our little ones; what we expose them to in their youth; what we train them to trust in, this is what they will have to deal with when they are older. And this the devil knows will be his weapon against our faith in God when we are older. The parents; the siblings; the relatives; the friends; the colleagues or whatever we have been taught to rely and trust instead of Jesus. But Jesus knows this and says in His Word;
“For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you” – 1 Peter 4:3-4
Therefore dont be shaken; stand firm in your decision to follow Jesus. Focus on His promises; expecting the resistance from those you have anchored you faith in all the years. He has chosen you and called you from darkness into light; therefore remain in the Light and walk as children of Light.
